Release of 69 Detainees in Latakia Following Judicial Acquittal
Welat TV – Erbil
Syrian authorities have released 69 detainees in Latakia Governorate after completing all required legal procedures and securing their judicial acquittal, following confirmation that they were not involved in killings or serious violations.
The move, carried out on Friday, December 26, 2025, comes as part of efforts to uphold the rule of law, strengthen civil peace, and promote social cohesion, according to a statement issued by the Latakia Governorate.
Footage circulated on social media showed families of the detainees waiting for the implementation of the release decisions after judicial authorities finalized the review of the case files.
Following the fall of the former Syrian regime a year ago, authorities arrested a number of former regime members. In addition, many residents of Syria’s coastal governorates were detained during the events that took place last March.
