U.S. Central Command Carries Out Extensive Strikes Against ISIS in Syria
Welat TV – Erbil
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces, in coordination with partner forces, carried out large-scale strikes yesterday targeting multiple ISIS terrorist group sites across various parts of Syria.
In a statement issued early Sunday, January 11, 2026, CENTCOM said the strikes were conducted as part of Operation “Eagle Eye,” which was launched on December 19, 2025, under the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump. The operation came in direct response to an ISIS attack in the Syrian city of Palmyra on December 13, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and a U.S. civilian interpreter.
CENTCOM confirmed that the strikes targeted ISIS capabilities across Syria, underscoring the United States’ continued commitment to preventing future attacks, protecting U.S. and coalition forces, and pursuing terrorist elements.
The command stressed that U.S. and coalition forces will continue their operations against ISIS, emphasizing that the message is clear: any attack on U.S. forces will be met with a decisive response, and those responsible will be pursued wherever they are found.
CENTCOM launched the large-scale Operation “Eagle Eye” on December 19, 2025, against ISIS in Syria following the killing of U.S. troops in the Palmyra attack earlier that month. The operation involved fighter jets, attack helicopters, and other military assets, striking more than 70 ISIS targets across multiple areas of central Syria.
According to the statement, the strikes were carried out using more than 100 precision-guided munitions and focused on ISIS infrastructure and weapons storage facilities.
It also noted that the Jordanian Armed Forces provided support to the operation through the participation of fighter aircraft.
These operations come amid ongoing U.S. and international coalition efforts to prevent ISIS from repositioning itself or regaining its offensive capabilities in Syria and the wider region.
