Syria Condemns Shelling of UAE Consulate in Kurdistan Region

Syria has strongly condemned the shelling that targeted the Consulate of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement issued Tuesday, March 10, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a serious violation of the inviolability of diplomatic premises protected under international law, warning that it poses a direct threat to regional security and stability and undermines ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The statement added: “While Syria expresses its full solidarity with the brotherly United Arab Emirates, it stresses the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Iraq.”

It also called for avoiding any actions that could destabilize the region or endanger civilians and diplomatic facilities, emphasizing the need to adhere to international law and pursue de-escalation in order to safeguard the security of the region and its peoples.
