Welat TV – Erbil
A delegation from the Assyrian Democratic Organization met with the presidential envoy overseeing the implementation of the agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces, Ziad Al-Ayesh, in Al-Shaddadi on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
The delegation was headed by Gabriel Moshe and included Kouria Shabo, head of the organization’s Syria branch, lawyer Barsoum Youssef, Nabil Oshana from the General Secretariat, and Yacoub Ghribo, a member of the Syria branch committee. Also attending the meeting were Dr. Saif Al-Jarba, a member of the presidential team, and Abbas Hussein, head of the political body in Hasaka.
During the meeting, al-Ayesh stressed the importance of participation by all components of Syrian society, including the Syriac-Assyrian community, in managing the country’s affairs and the province’s administration. He also emphasized the need to strengthen civil peace and reinforce cooperation and brotherhood among the people of Hasaka—Arabs, Kurds, and Syriac Assyrians.
Both sides highlighted the importance of dialogue and coordination among national forces to enhance stability and serve the public interest.
The meeting also addressed the demands of the Syriac-Assyrian community in the new Syria, particularly constitutional recognition of their presence and identity, as well as recognition of the Syriac language as a national language—steps seen as strengthening national unity, tolerance, and the pluralistic character of the country.
Additionally, discussions covered measures undertaken by the presidential team to follow up on the implementation of the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, particularly the integration of SDF forces into state institutions, a process aimed at enhancing stability and ensuring the rule of law in the province.
