Macron Condemns Drone Attack on Nechirvan Barzani’s Residence in Duhok

French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned the drone attack that targeted the residence of Nechirvan Barzani in Duhok on Saturday, reiterating France’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

This came during a phone call received by Barzani on Saturday, March 28, 2026, during which Macron extended his condolences to Nechirvan Barzani and to the families of the Peshmerga members who were killed in the Iranian missile attack on Soran on the 24th of this month, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.

For his part, the president of the Kurdistan Region expressed his appreciation for Macron’s call, praising France’s continued support and its positions toward Iraq and the Kurdistan Region on the international stage.

In another part of the call, the two sides discussed the latest developments of the war and its repercussions, stressing the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to bring the conflict to an end.
