Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani held talks in Damascus with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sybiha on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, in a statement released via its official channels on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between Syria, Turkey, and Ukraine, in addition to exploring opportunities for collaboration in security and economic fields.

A Vital Framework for Coordination

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sybiha stated that his country is committed to strengthening coordination with Syria and Turkey in security and logistical domains, within the framework of international partnerships aimed at supporting regional stability and achieving global security.

In a post on the X platform following the trilateral meeting with Asaad al-Shaibani and Hakan Fidan, Sybiha noted that this framework represents a vital platform for cooperation among the three countries.

Focus on Food Security

Earlier on Sunday, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the People’s Palace in Damascus, in the presence of ministerial delegations from both countries and with the participation of Hakan Fidan. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and economic cooperation, according to a statement from the Syrian presidency.

Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring the security of food supply lines, contributing to stability amid ongoing international tensions.

Syria and Ukraine had previously signed a joint statement last September on the restoration of diplomatic relations, during a meeting between Ahmad al-Sharaa and Volodymyr Zelensky in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
