Crossing Suspended at Jdeidet Yabous Border with Lebanon Following Israeli Threats

Movement remains fully suspended at the Jdeidet Yabous Border Crossing between Syria and Lebanon, following Israeli warnings of a potential strike targeting the Masnaa Border Crossing on the Lebanese side and the nearby M30 road. The warnings prompted a full evacuation and the halt of operations at both crossings.

The Jdeidet Yabous crossing, located in the countryside of Damascus, appeared empty of travelers, with gates closed and vehicle movement halted, while staff remained on site awaiting further instructions.

Mohammad al-Qassim, Director of Public Relations at the crossing, stated that Lebanese authorities suspended operations at Masnaa and withdrew personnel due to the threats.

In response, Syrian authorities halted all passenger movement—both inbound and outbound—as well as cargo transport and transit activity.

Al-Qassim emphasized that Jdeidet Yabous is a humanitarian crossing providing civil services to Syrians, Lebanese, and other Arab nationals, in addition to diplomatic missions. He stressed that it is primarily dependent on commercial activity and is not used for military purposes.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces issued warnings late Saturday calling on people in the Masnaa crossing area to evacuate ahead of a potential strike, claiming the crossing was being used by Hezbollah for military purposes and weapons smuggling.

In response, Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamni denied the allegations, stating that claims of arms smuggling through the crossing are “incorrect and not based on factual evidence,” and highlighting strict security measures and ongoing coordination between Lebanese and Syrian authorities.
