Hundreds of people staged a protest on Sunday in the city of Kobani, calling for the release of detainees from the Syrian Democratic Forces and other captives held by the Syrian government.

Demonstrators urged all concerned parties to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and to take serious, concrete steps to address the file.

The protest coincided with an ongoing prisoner exchange process between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government.

Dr. Mustafa Abdi, a member of the presidential team tasked with overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement, announced that the government had decided to release 400 detainees.

However, activists on social media have so far published a list containing the names of only 198 released prisoners. Buses carrying a number of those freed arrived in Hasaka, where families gathered to receive their relatives.
