The Kurdish National Council in Syria is making initial preparations to open a local council office in Damascus, set to be established in the city’s Kurdish Quarter.

In a statement issued Saturday, the council said the selection of this historic neighborhood “was not arbitrary, but rather reflects its distinguished historical and social significance for the Kurdish people in the capital.”

The council added that the new office aims to provide integrated services to residents of the area and to strengthen direct communication channels with the public, contributing to a more active role for the local council in supporting the Kurdish community and enhancing its participation across social and cultural spheres.

The Kurdish National Council in Syria also expressed pride in the step, emphasizing that the office will serve as a hub for collective action and community service, and a reflection of its ongoing commitment to the Kurdish population in Damascus.
