King Abdullah II received the Syrian ministerial delegation participating in the second session of the Higher Coordination Council between Jordan and Syria, headed by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

During the meeting, held at Al Hussainiya Palace on Sunday, 12 April 2026, the King emphasized the need to continue developing economic and trade relations and to strengthen security cooperation between the two countries in a manner that serves mutual interests, according to Jordan’s Al Mamlaka TV.

The King noted that the convening of the second session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council represents an important step toward advancing bilateral relations, underscoring the need for the meetings to contribute to the implementation of joint agreements.

The Council is focused on approximately 20 key sectors and seeks to enhance Jordanian-Syrian relations, moving towards a comprehensive strategic partnership across various field.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as water, transport, and energy, with the King highlighting the importance of integration among Arab states and strengthening regional cooperation through joint projects. King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s efforts to preserve its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
