A Kurdish student has achieved fourth place among high school students in Germany for a philosophy research paper submitted to an academic competition with rigorous standards and intense competition.

The student, Zewa Sino, from Dirbasiye in Syrian Kurdistan, arrived in Germany in 2018. She continued her studies and achieved this notable academic accomplishment.

A Philosophical Essay on Nietzsche and Internal Conflict

Sino presented a philosophical essay titled “Internal Conflict and the Illusion of Moral Idealism,” exploring German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s views on internal conflict. The paper secured fourth place in the competition.

A Philosophical Perspective on Internal Conflict

In an interview with “Welat TV,” Sino stated that her research aimed to highlight internal conflict within individuals, noting that “the internal struggle between a person and themselves in pursuit of perfection or moral idealism may lead to the destruction of their spirit.” She added that individuals should develop a moral and ethical system they truly believe in, free from pretense, to maintain psychological balance and resilience.

Notable Representation in a Competitive Contest

Sino highlighted that she was the only Syrian and the only refugee among the participants, with only 25 students selected to present their research. She described this as a significant source of pride for her community, which celebrated her academic success. She noted that the competition applied strict criteria, requiring participants to develop their own philosophical perspective rather than relying solely on the ideas of the philosopher whose work they analyze.

A Passion for Philosophy and Future Aspirations

Sino expressed her passion for philosophy, stating that it encourages independent thinking, helps individuals shape their worldview beyond tradition, and empowers them to pursue their true interests. She also shared her intention to study law at university and continue her academic journey.

Messages to Kurdish Students Abroad

Sino encouraged Kurdish students abroad to pursue academic excellence, raise awareness, and enhance the standing of the Kurdish people. She also emphasized the importance of valuing educational opportunities and support from host countries.

Aspirations to Serve the Kurdish Community

Sino concluded by noting that she has many aspirations to serve the Kurdish people, expressing hope for the emergence of Kurdish philosophers and intellectual figures who advocate for their people’s causes and convey them to the world.
