The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority has announced the rehabilitation of Qamishlo International Airport, in preparation for its anticipated reopening.

In a statement released through its official platforms today, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the authority published images showing ongoing rehabilitation works at the airport, as part of broader preparations to resume operations in the near future.

The maintenance and rehabilitation efforts cover the airport’s infrastructure, including service facilities, within a comprehensive plan to ready the airport for re-entry into service.

On February 21, the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority had announced that it had assumed management of the airport, noting that the move came as part of the implementation of the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

A number of senior officials from the authority also conducted a field visit to the airport facilities, where they assessed the operational, technical, and administrative conditions, and evaluated the readiness of infrastructure and equipment, paving the way for the development of a fully integrated operational plan in line with internationally recognized standards.
