Ahmed al-Hilali announced that around 300 detainees from the Syrian Democratic Forces are still held by the government.

Al-Hilali, spokesperson for the Syrian Presidency’s team overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement, said during a press conference that the detainee file is nearing completion. He added that approximately 300 SDF detainees remain and are expected to be released soon.

He also noted that more than 1,500 detainees have been released so far as part of the release process between the SDF and the government.

According to al-Hilali, around 500 other detainees are still being held in SDF prisons on various charges.

As part of the implementation of the January 29 agreement, three rounds of detainee releases have been carried out so far.

Families of hundreds of the remaining detainees have been staging ongoing protests, calling for their release.
