CENTCOM: 38 Vessels Turned Back as Blockade on Iranian Ports Continues
Welat TV – Erbil
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the continued enforcement of a naval blockade on Iran’s ports.
In a post on the platform X on Monday, April 27, 2026, CENTCOM stated that its forces had redirected 38 vessels back to ports as part of the ongoing operation.
Last Friday, CENTCOM announced that the guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) intercepted a vessel flying the Iranian flag while it was attempting to sail toward one of Iran’s ports.
The maritime blockade, previously announced by Washington, aims to restrict the movement of ships to and from Iranian ports, particularly through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
These interceptions of Iranian vessels and tankers come amid stalled diplomatic efforts between the two sides, alongside warnings about the potential impact of continued escalation on international maritime security and global energy markets.
