During First Visit, Aleppo Governor Pledges to Improve Public Services in Kobani

The Governor of Aleppo, Azzam al-Gharib, paid an official visit to Kobani on Sunday, touring a number of healthcare centers as well as government and security institutions as part of efforts to monitor the implementation of the administrative integration agreement and complete the reactivation of state institutions in the region.

During the visit, the governor met with local officials, community leaders from Kobani and Sirrin, and tribal sheikhs. Discussions focused on the state of public services and the needs of local residents, in addition to challenges facing administrative and institutional work in the area.

Al-Gharib reaffirmed the Syrian government's commitment to fully restoring the operation of all state institutions, stressing that the move would contribute to improving public services and strengthening local stability.

The visit also included field tours of several official facilities, where the governor reviewed ongoing operations and examined plans to enhance institutional performance during the coming phase.

Protest by Families of Detainees and Missing Persons Held by SDF

Coinciding with the visit, families of detainees and missing persons held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) staged a protest demanding clarification regarding the fate of their relatives. Participants carried photographs of the missing and called for greater efforts to address the issue and find solutions.

For his part, the deputy governor of Aleppo informed the protesters that a special committee had been established as part of the administrative integration process to follow up on detainee and missing persons cases and work toward resolving them.

The visit marks the first trip by the Aleppo governor to Kobani since the completion of the integration of government institutions in the region. The process is based on the January 29 agreement signed between the Syrian government and the SDF, which aims to organize administrative and service-related affairs and strengthen the presence of state institutions.
