Agricultural Fires Erupt in Damascus Countryside Following Falling Missile Debris

The Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management announced that Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to two reports involving the fall of war remnants linked to the ongoing regional developments in agricultural areas near Najha and al-Harjala in the Damascus countryside, triggering fires in cultivated farmland.

The ministry stated that emergency teams extinguished the fires on the evening of Sunday, June 7, and secured the affected locations by placing warning signs, recording the coordinates of the sites, and notifying specialized unexploded ordnance and war remnants removal units to handle the debris safely.

The ministry warned citizens against approaching, touching, or attempting to inspect any suspicious objects or debris that may fall as a result of the current events. It urged the public to leave such matters to military engineering units and explosive-remnants disposal teams and to immediately report any suspected war remnants.

Authorities also called on residents to avoid gathering in open areas or climbing onto rooftops to observe ongoing developments and advised them to contact Syrian Civil Defense emergency services in the event of fires, injuries, or material damage.

In a related development, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that remnants of an Iranian missile intercepted by Israeli air defenses fell near a residential house in the city of Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa.

No casualties or property damage was reported. Iran launched a number of missiles toward Israel on Sunday evening amid escalating military tensions between Iran and Israel.
