The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces have completed a new round of strikes against targets inside Iran, describing the operations as acts of “self-defense.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 11, 2026, CENTCOM said it had targeted multiple sites across Iran on June 10 under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief. According to the statement, U.S. Central Command forces carried out strikes against Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communications systems, and air defense positions located throughout the country.
CENTCOM added that units from the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Navy employed precision-guided munitions to strike Iranian targets that were deemed a threat to American forces and to international commercial vessels transiting regional waters.
The command stated that the strikes were conducted in response to what it described as “ongoing and unprovoked Iranian aggression,” stressing that U.S. forces remain fully prepared to carry out “decisive strikes” if necessary.
Earlier, CENTCOM had announced the commencement of additional defensive operations against Iranian targets. “Today, at 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S. Central Command forces began conducting additional defensive strikes against multiple targets in Iran,” the command said in an earlier statement.
The latest military action comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and follows renewed warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently threatened further military measures against Iran as diplomatic efforts continue to face significant challenges.
