CENTCOM Announces Interception of Iranian Drones Targeting Commercial Vessels in the Strait of Hormuz
Welat TV – Erbil
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces have intercepted a number of attack drones launched by Iran toward commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that maritime traffic in the strategic waterway remains unaffected.
In a statement posted on its official X platform account on Saturday, June 13, CENTCOM said that Iran launched one-way attack drones in an attempt to target commercial ships in the strait.
It added that U.S. forces successfully shot down all of the drones during the past several hours.
The command emphasized that the international trade corridor through the Strait of Hormuz remains open to maritime navigation and that commercial vessels continue to transit the waterway without disruption.
Earlier, CENTCOM announced that it would continue enforcing what it described as a “strict blockade” on Iran.
It stated that since April 13, it has redirected 139 commercial vessels that complied with its instructions, while also disrupting the movement of nine non-compliant ships.
