U.S. Military Announces Strikes on 90 Iranian Military Targets

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a new round of military strikes against Iranian targets, saying the operation was aimed at degrading Tehran's ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 9, 2026, CENTCOM said U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets on July 8, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran's coastline.

The command added that the strikes followed offensive operations carried out by U.S. forces inside Iran the previous night.

According to the statement, U.S. forces had also targeted around 80 Iranian military sites on July 7, including more than 60 small boats belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). CENTCOM said those operations were intended to "impose significant costs on Iran" after it allegedly violated the ceasefire agreement by attacking three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces remain on high alert and fully prepared to carry out any missions directed by the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
