Iran Intensifies Attacks on Neighboring Countries as Trump Declares Ceasefire Agreement Over

Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan announced on Thursday that they had intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting their territories, while U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire established under the memorandum of understanding with Iran had come to an end following attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as "a repeated hostile approach," saying they constituted a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, posed a direct threat to its security and stability, and breached international law, the United Nations Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
Kuwait's Ministry of Defense said the country's armed forces detected and intercepted three ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and ten drones that entered Kuwaiti airspace early Thursday, confirming that all threats were successfully neutralized.
In Bahrain, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announced that its air defense systems had intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting the kingdom, adding that its forces remain on the highest level of readiness to protect the country.
Jordan's government spokesperson also confirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces intercepted Iranian missiles that entered the country's airspace, stressing the military's readiness to respond to any threat.
IRGC Claims Responsibility
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attacks in a statement carried by the state-run IRNA news agency. According to the statement, the IRGC targeted Patriot missile defense systems and the Arifjan and Ali Al Salem military bases in Kuwait, as well as the Juffair and Sheikh Isa bases in Bahrain. It warned that any further U.S. military action would prompt attacks on additional American bases across the region.
New U.S. Airstrikes
The developments came as the U.S. military launched a new wave of airstrikes early Thursday against targets in southern and southeastern Iran, only hours after President Trump warned that military operations against Iran could be expanded.
Trump Declares Ceasefire
Over Speaking on Wednesday during the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said the ceasefire, which had been expected to remain in effect for 60 days under the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, was "over" following Iran's attacks on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Escalating Regional Tensions
The latest escalation comes amid months of confrontation between the United States and Iran, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at containing the crisis and reaching an agreement to prevent a broader regional conflict. Recent developments have heightened concerns over further instability across the Middle East.
