CENTCOM: U.S. Launches Airstrikes on Dozens of Targets Inside Iran in Response to Missile Attack

The United States Central Command announced that it carried out a large-scale wave of airstrikes against targets inside Iran at 10:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on July 29, in response to what it described as an attempted Iranian missile attack on U.S. forces the previous day.

According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted dozens of sites affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including military command centers; missile and drone facilities; coastal surveillance and defense positions; and naval capabilities.

The command said the operation was intended to reduce the threats posed by Iran and its allied groups to U.S. forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf states.

CENTCOM further stated that on July 28, the IRGC launched several ballistic missiles from Iranian territory in an attempt to strike U.S. forces deployed across the Middle East.

It said all of the missiles were successfully intercepted, with no casualties reported. The command also noted that more than 50,000 U.S. troops are currently deployed throughout the Middle East and remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any potential threats.
