Rising Bread Prices in Qamishlo Increase Living Burdens on Residents

Rising bread prices in the city of Qamishlo have become one of the main concerns for residents amid worsening economic conditions and increasing living costs.

A resident of Qamishlo told Welat TV that a bundle of bread now costs 6,000 Syrian pounds (60 new Syrian pounds), noting that each family needs at least two bundles per day.

The resident said the increase in bread prices has placed additional financial pressure on households, making it more difficult to meet daily needs, especially as the rising cost of living has affected not only bread but also most essential goods and necessities.

Meanwhile, bakery owners attributed the price increase to higher production costs, particularly the rising prices of flour, diesel fuel, and electricity, in addition to other operating expenses. They stressed that continuing operations and securing production supplies have become increasingly difficult.

Caught between residents' complaints and the growing operational costs faced by bakeries, the people of Qamishlo continue to struggle with mounting economic pressures as prices of many essential goods and services keep rising.
