Trump Signals Two Options for Iran: “Wait or Hit Very Hard”

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington’s options toward Iran range from waiting and allowing the Iranian economy to deteriorate to carrying out military strikes “very hard,” accusing Tehran of adopting a “deceptive” approach in negotiations.

In a phone interview with Real America’s Voice, published late Monday, Trump said he continued to monitor Iran’s deteriorating economic situation, noting that sanctions and U.S. control over frozen Iranian assets had placed Tehran in what he described as a “catastrophic situation.”

Trump’s remarks come amid differing positions over the course of the conflict, with his statements in recent weeks alternating between threats of military escalation and assurances that a peace agreement could still be reached.

Meanwhile, Pakistan said on Tuesday that the United States and Iran were nearing some “kind of” agreement, while Qatar said talks on arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz had reached an advanced stage, despite reports of two new attacks targeting vessels in the region.

On the issue of ammunition stocks, Trump played down concerns over declining U.S. supplies, saying the United States was stepping up production.

He blamed the administration of former President Joe Biden, accusing it of providing large quantities of ammunition to Ukraine.
