Hasaka Continues Withdrawal of Old Syrian Currency as Central Bank Enables Online Registration

The Central Bank of Syria announced today, Thursday, that it has begun accepting applications online for the withdrawal of old Syrian banknotes, while direct withdrawal operations continue across all governorates through outlets of the Syrian Post Corporation, in accordance with the approved procedures and mechanisms.
The bank called on citizens to register and book an appointment to withdraw old currency through the electronic platform on the bank's official website.
Withdrawal Application Process
The Central Bank explained that the platform allows citizens to submit an application and book an appointment in advance. Appointment details will be sent to the phone number provided in the application via SMS once appointments become available.
According to the bank, applicants must attend at the designated time to complete the withdrawal procedures and submit the required documents and information, along with the old Syrian banknotes, at the bank branch selected during the application process.
Once the procedures are completed, the corresponding value in new Syrian currency will be transferred to the bank account specified by the applicant at the bank where they hold an account, without any commissions, fees, taxes, or expenses being charged.
Direct Withdrawals Continue in Three Governorates
The bank said that the withdrawal of old currency in Deir Ez-Zour, Raqqa, and Hasaka continues directly through bank branches and approved Syrian Post Corporation outlets in those governorates.
Citizens can also submit withdrawal applications through the electronic platform, in accordance with the approved procedures and regulations. It confirmed that the right to submit an application to withdraw the value of old currency is limited to Syrian citizens and natural persons deemed equivalent under the applicable regulations, and excludes legal entities.
The bank also clarified that withdrawal applications are not subject to a specific number of banknotes or particular denominations. Applicants may list all old currency in their possession according to the actual banknotes submitted for withdrawal, provided that each applicant submits an application only once during the withdrawal phase.
Warning Against Intermediaries
The Central Bank of Syria urged citizens to rely exclusively on the official website designated for the withdrawal process and warned them against dealing with any third party or intermediary.
The bank stressed that the data and information submitted by applicants are subject to confidentiality and protection and will be used only for purposes related to implementing the withdrawal procedures, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Central Bank of Syria had announced on July 26, 2026, that the deadline for exchanging old banknotes ended on July 30, noting that significant progress had been made in the exchange process. It said the withdrawal phase for old banknotes began on July 31 and will continue for five years.
