Israeli forces have intensified their military activity in southern Syria, carrying out a series of simultaneous attacks targeting civilian areas in the countryside of Daraa, Quneitra, and western Rif Dimashq, including new ground incursions and heavy artillery shelling.

Syrian Al Ikhbariya TV reported on Sunday, September 6, 2026, that Israeli forces opened heavy and indiscriminate fire toward civilian homes in the village of Ma’ariya in the western Daraa countryside, causing panic among residents.

The report was also corroborated by local reporting on the incident. The channel also reported that Israeli artillery fired six shells on Saturday evening at the outskirts of al-Rafid in the southern Quneitra countryside.

The shelling coincided with an Israeli military incursion involving five military vehicles carrying soldiers. The forces conducted raids and searches before withdrawing, with no abductions reported.

Heavy Israeli artillery also fired two shells toward the Bat al-Warda hill area on the outskirts of Beit Jinn in western Rif Dimashq. No casualties were reported.

Israeli military activity has intensified recently across Daraa and Quneitra, including repeated ground incursions, raids and searches of civilian homes, temporary checkpoints, arrests, and artillery fire in areas close to the border.

The latest escalation comes amid continued Israeli military activity in southern Syria following the collapse of the former Assad regime and Israel’s subsequent seizure of positions in and around the former demilitarized buffer zone.
