The Syrian Ministry of Interior has issued a new list of appointments, naming several officers as internal security commanders in a number of Syrian provinces.

According to an official statement published on the Ministry’s website on Sunday, May 25, 2025, Brigadier General Osama Mohammad Khair Atkeh has been appointed as the Internal Security Commander in Damascus Governorate, while Brigadier General Hossam Maamoun al-Tahan will assume the same post in Rural Damascus.

Brigadier General Shahir Jabr Omran has been named commander in Daraa, Brigadier General Murhaf Khaled al-Naasan in Homs, and Brigadier General Mualham Mahmoud al-Aloui al-Shantout in Hama.

Further appointments include Brigadier General Abdulaziz Hilal Al-Ahmad in Latakia, Brigadier General Mohammad Qusay Youssef al-Naseer in Quneitra, and Brigadier General Ahmad Haitham al-Dalati in Sweida.

In addition, Brigadier General Ghassan Mohammad Bakir has been appointed as Internal Security Commander in Idlib, Colonel Mohammad Jumaa Abdul Ghani in Aleppo, Colonel Abdul Aal Mohammad Abdul Aal in Tartous, and Colonel Derrar Abdul Razzaq al-Shamlan in Deir Ez-Zour.

Ministry Restructuring

Also on Sunday, the Interior Ministry issued a separate list of new appointments naming officers as deputy ministers.

This comes a day after the ministry announced a comprehensive organizational restructuring, which includes the establishment of several new departments.
